We woke up and had an early breakfast. Interesting day today… Lots of things happening, but at the same time, nothing at all. We headed out to go to what is apparently our favorite place in Spain—seriously, we’ve never seen an uglier town in our lives, but the mechanics are nice. We left Brownie (our van) there so she could charge a little bit and waited while having the worst coffee ever in the rain and charging our phones because we ran out of every bit of battery the day before. Sorry for all the unanswered texts, people—we couldn’t keep up. Lots of love, we are checking our correspondences. Finally, our handsome taxi driver arrived—shout out to Shivel. His car, though, was too small to carry the boards, so we had to visit the town of San Vicente de la Barquera. Nice town; the castle isn’t worth it and is overpriced. Do not eat bravas in this town—not worth the risk. But there’s a nice coffee shop on the corner where you can spend 2 hours charging your things, create a website, and only drink two coffees that were just fine. Then we had lunch, and our handsome taxi driver came to pick us up so we could be reunited with Brownie. We went to a very nice and beautiful spot next to the ocean (check out the pictures), hiked, saw some cows, and bumped the van (life is hard sometimes) because we were nice people making space for other cars. We continued our early afternoon by going to buy some groceries (yes guys, we have a fridge now), some gas, some very disappointing Kinder Surprise (we didn’t get any new friends for Hermione), and some water.
Quiz question: How many liters of water can Brownie handle?
A. 25L
B. 40L
C. 60L
Luckily, when we came back to the parking spot, our favorite van buddies gave us their softboards for two beers, and we went for a perfect surf sesh. Afterwards, we had some dinner (leftovers party) with a view, and even though it started to rain, we could play some Wizard (which, obviously, Heide won, Sandra came second, and Lilli lost. Tim—we don’t care). When the day seemed to be ending, a new member joined the team. Lilli and Ben are joining the van party and will be surfing tomorrow with us. They had a rough start and got stuck in the mud. No worries, guys—the first days are the hardest 🌝🚐
All in all, we have electricity, gas, food, water, a new blog, and good times and waves to come. Peace out, yours truly—Heide and Sandra.
P.S. Hermione is starting to talk with Nut (the turtle pet of the van).
